About Us

Our teachers are specially trained at university level with Early Childhood qualifications and our assistants have a minimum Certificate III in Children's Services. Teachers and assistants undertake professional development activities to keep up to date with current teaching practices and develop new ideas. All staff at the centre have a current Police Check and Working with Children Check as well as first aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis training.

The children call staff by their christian names as we feel this is more informal and welcoming. In each group there is one teacher and one assistant.

We provide:

  • Safe and secure learning environment
  • Respectful interactions
  • Cooperative learning and play opportunities
  • An environment that is stimulating and enhances children’s self esteem,
    autonomy and initiative
  • Help in learning how to interact effectively to balance their own rights, needs
and feelings with those of others
  • Open door policy at all times for parents to come and participate in the program

Cecilia
"My name is Cecilia and I have been working at Mordialloc Preschool for 12 years. I previously taught for four years at two Bayside kindergartens as well as doing relief work after completing my Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies in 2003. I am passionate about working closely with children and families to develop programs specific to the needs and interests of each child. I value early childhood as a time for learning life skills through play. I believe that early childhood education is not just preparation for school or life, it already is life. And in a nurturing and supportive environment everyone can achieve success in learning. Some of my hobbies include art and music, and I enjoy sharing these activities with the children at kinder."

Georgie
"Hi, I am Georgie. I have a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies. I have years of experience as a kindergarten teacher and can happily say I love my job. The energy and creativity kindergarten offers young children is like no other in their educational journey. To explore learning through play, to support children in following their interests and to work with children in a curriculum that encourages the development of skills from a basis of strength, is truly a gift. Developing connections with the children's families is also an honour. I live in Mt Eliza with my husband and three school age children. We love good food, heading to the beach and travelling different places on family holidays. After taking time out to raise my own children, I joined the teaching team at Mordialloc Preschool in 2018. It's a great kinder and I hope you enjoy your time here with us."

Marg
"Hi, my name is Marg. I have been at Mordialloc Preschool a long time! As a mother of three children, I started as a parent helper and found that I really loved this job. So I sort casual opportunities to work in this field, leading me to study Certificate 3 in Early Childhood in 2011 and settling in to a part time position at Mordialloc Preschool. I have a keen interest in the natural sciences, which I love to share with children in our care both inside in the playroom and outside in the kinder yard. I also enjoy sharing my interest in music, singing a few tunes with the children on the ukelele! "
